Hi Dr. Sharon - I was wondering if there is information you could possibly send on health and fitness. I am not seeking employment in the industry, but wanted to see what suggestions, tips, dietary habits etc. you could offer. I went to the AIM web site and I was quite impressed. Dr. Mitchell, I saw a story they did on you for ABC. It is so important to take the necessary precautions in this world of terrible STD'S. I applaud all of your efforts from AIM. I was also wondering I turn 40 next year in June, do you know of any dinner/award shows coming up in the LA area? I am a Boston resident, Do you have AIM seminars in the Boston area? Thank you so much!
Rich
Hello Rich,
No we are not coming to the Boston area anytime soon. However, we have draw stations for both talent (AIM) and civilians (SXCheck), all over the United States and now Canada. We will be moving to Europe soon.
Now then, I'll be turning 50 next year. I started working out 3 times weekly with weights, and 2-3 times weekly with cardio. Fortunately, we have a wonderful park with about 2 miles of canyon nearby and it's sunny most of the year. I walk/run it for my cardio - takes me about 30 minutes for 2 miles (half of it is very steep uphill). So if you are in the city, set your treadmill on 7-10 incline and go slow, for about 20 minutes, then at a jogging pace for 20 mins, and so on until you reach your goal in distance. This keeps my muscle toned, my heart healthy and my thighs thin. As for diet, I follow the South Beach Diet, all phases. This way, if I should gain 5 lbs. I go on phase one. When I hit my base weight, I go back to phase 2 or 3. My basic theory is, "pay attention to the first 5 lbs that you gain, and it won't turn into 10, or 15, which is harder to loose, and never buy one size larger to accommodate my weight."
That is what I live by. Oh yes and always, always, always eat organic foods and supplements whenever possible. I cook most of our meals at home. Whole Foods Market is a good source for organic food. Yes, it is expensive, but so is cancer, and processed foods are definitely linked to cancer.
I also believe in cosmetic surgery, as we get older we may need a little nip and tuck. So, that's it except for the most important thing - lots of good, safe sex of course.!
